Basic Certificate (NTAL4) Entry Qualifications

Applicants must posses at least four (4) D passes from Certificate of Secondary Education Examination in non-religious subjects. Out of four (4) passes, two (2) must be from science subjects (Physics, Engineering science, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Geography). OR Passed NVTA L3 in Engineering aligned subjects from VETA Registered Institutions.

Technician Certificate (NTAL5) Entry Qualifications

Applicants must posses a relevant NTAL4 from NACTVET Accredited colleges at 2.0GPA

Earth Sciences Institute of Shinyanga (ESIS) is a Private Technical Institute registered by the National Council for Technical Education of Tanzania (NACTE) with Reg. No REG/SAT/058 to offer Geosciences-related courses. ESIS’s head office is located in Shinyanga Municipality at the Open University of Tanzania Shinyanga offices

ESIS uses NACTE-validated curricula and is currently offering Exploration and Mining Geology from Basic Certificate to Diploma. ESIS also offers Petroleum Geology from Basic Certificate to Diploma.

In the first 10 years, ESIS is intended to offer certificates and diplomas in earth science fields that are competence-based - so-called National Technical Awards (NTAs) under the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). Later on, ESIS shall begin to offer higher levels of competence-based systems that are/shall be equivalent to degrees (Bachelor's and later on Masters and finally PhDs) in the field of Earth Sciences and under the same board, NACTE.
